We want you, or your Customer, to be happy with the instrument(s) you purchase from us. Therefore, it is imperative we seek the proper information prior to issuing a quotation. So, please review the information below and provide as much as you can. If you have any problems understanding the specifications or need our assistance, please don't hesitate to call one of our sales people.
Model Number (ie. 200, 227A, 288A, ect...) Typically you can find this information on a data plate attached to the instrument. On a ITT Barton Dp Instrument, it may be the first few characters of the serial number. For example 227C-32123. The model number would be 227C. Although newer Barton gauges will have to be comparatively determined by looking at our website for a match because Cameron stopped this style of serial numbers.
Differential Pressure Range (ie. 0-100 Inches of Water, 0-50 psi) The DP range can be found on a data plate or on the face of the dial, if the dial reads the pressure and not flow or liquid level.
Safe Working Pressure S.W.P. (ie. 500psi, 1000psi, 2500psi, 3000psi, 6000psi) The SWP is often engraved or stamped on the side of the Pressure housings and center block. This information is also included on a data plate. It will be identified like SWP 500
Fill Fluid (ie. B, M, FL, S, D) These letters indicate the fill fluid inside the rupture proof bellows. B is a combination of ethylene glycol and water. M is turbine oil. FL stands for fluorolube, which is used for instruments measuring liquid oxygen. S designates silicone as the fill liquid. D stands for distilled water and instrument filled with distilled water must never freeze. All these fill fluids have there own specifications and compatibilities with different temperatures and industrial processes.
Housing Material (ie. FG Brass, Stainless Steel, CuNi, Steel, Monel) Housing material will be stamped, engraved or molded on the housings of a unit.
Bellows Material (ie. Stainless Steel, Inconel) This one may be a little harder to determine from a visual observation. Suffice to say, if the process your measuring is not compatible with stainless steel, then you probably have inconel bellows. it is very possible if your instrument has FG brass housings, it will have Beryllium Copper bellows. However, Beryllium Copper bellows are not being manufactured anymore. Instead you would request stainless steel bellows. Inconel bellows are the premium bellow and used for higher pressures and for applications where stainless steel is not compatible with the process being measured, such as seawater.
Scale Plate (ie. 0-100 gpm, 0-250 psi, 0-1100 scfm, 0-300 inwc)
Dial Color (ie. Black dial with white markings or White dial with black markings)
Process Connection size (ie. 1/4" npt, 1/2" npt, 7/16-20 UNF 2B)
Mounting type (ie. 2" pipe mount, universal, panel, seismic)
As you can see, some of these specifications can be obtained by viewing photographs of an instrument, if you have one onsite that needs to be replaced. Some customers will send the broken unit in for an estimate of repair and purchase a replacement as well. They would keep one on the shelf in the event they ever need a spare. Others buy a replacement because they are unable to remove the instrument without a replacement already on hand, then send the broken unit in for EOR after the installation of the new instrument.
